In times of worry or angst, mostly when I could not sleep, I would turn to Markings and read an entry or two in ignorance of Dag, Christ, John of the Cross or mysticism. I would read and think as in that room of silence, then close the book, close my eyes and fall immediately to sleep. I had a sense of a greater power in my life and a peace. Most of what Ms. O'Connor has written I was familiar with, but her explanation of the unheard of had great value for me. Thank you.
